Application

For patients with both metabolic acidosis (serum bicarbonate<22mEq/L) and severe hyperkalemia (blood potassium>6mEq/L or>5.5mEq/L with electrocardiographic changes),it can effectively correct acidosis and reduce blood potassium levels. The initial treatment plan in clinical practice is to add 150mEq NaHCO₃ to 1000ml of 5% glucose solution and administer it intravenously within 4 hours. If acidosis is not completely corrected, additional dosage may be considered.
