BARIUM SULPHATE

Microbar HD is a high-density barium sulphate (Barium Sulfate) suspension designed for dual-contrast gastrointestinal radiography. It is manufactured by Eskay Fine Chemicals and is used primarily for dual-contrast radiography of the stomach and duodenum. High Density and Flow: Microbar HD provides a density of 200% W/V while maintaining good flow. This high density allows for uniform coverage of the gastric mucosa even after gastric dilatation, providing clear radiographic images. Stability: The product is highly stable in the acidic environment of the stomach and does not undergo chemical changes. Uniform Coating: Microbar HD is able to cover the gastrointestinal mucosa uniformly, providing excellent mucosal detail. Taste and odour: It has a non-granular texture and a fruity flavour with a good mouthfeel. This characteristic makes it more comfortable for patients to take. Colour: Heavy pink powder with a fruity aroma and sweet taste.

Diagnostic imaging drugs barium sulfate is not absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract and maintains a high concentration, blocking the transmission of X-rays, making the image clear and non-toxic to the human body, so it is suitable for oesophagus and gastrointestinal tract imaging. Barium salt can absorb a larger amount of X-rays, and after entering the gastrointestinal tract, it forms a density contrast with the surrounding tissue structures on the X-ray image, thus showing the location, contour, morphology, surface structure and functional activities of these cavities. Fine and homogeneous barium is mostly synthetic barium, with fine and homogeneous particles, mostly round, lighter specific gravity, slow and consistent sedimentation, which is suitable for single and double contrast radiography of the oesophagus, stomach, duodenum, small intestine and colon. Due to the low concentration of fine and uniform barium, it is not as good as the uneven type in displaying the microstructure of the mucous membrane such as the gastric cell.
