ZINC CHLORIDE
ZnCl₂ can be prepared by reacting zinc metal with hydrochloric acid (HCl). The process begins with adding zinc metal to a dilute solution of hydrochloric acid. As the reaction progresses, zinc reacts with the acid, producing zinc chloride and hydrogen gas. After the reaction is complete, the solution contains zinc chloride in water. To obtain solid ZnCl₂, the water is evaporated by heating the solution. The resulting solid is then purified through recrystallization if necessary. it can also be synthesized by reacting zinc oxide or zinc carbonate with hydrochloric acid under similar conditions.
