White or light yellow glossy flake, columnar or needle shaped crystals with a bitter taste. Melting point 180-182 ℃, relative density 1.405 (20/4 ℃). Soluble in water and ethanol, almost insoluble in ether. Easily deliquescent in the air. Transformed into ammonium thiocyanate at 150 ℃. Sublimation at 150-160 ℃ under vacuum and decomposition at 180 ℃. It has reducibility and can reduce free iodine to iodine ions. This product is highly reactive and is used to prepare various compounds. It can react with various oxidants to produce urea, sulfuric acid, and other organic compounds, as well as easily soluble addition compounds with inorganic compounds.
