In agricultural practice, magnesium sulfate is applied to address magnesium deficiency in soils, which is particularly common in acidic soils where Mg is easily leached out. It is also used to improve the efficiency of nitrogen fertilizers, as Mg enhances the plant's ability to utilize nitrogen, thereby increasing yield.
