Description of ethylene thiourea:

White and glossy crystals. Bitter taste. Density 1.405. Melting point: 180-182 ℃. Decompose when hotter. Soluble in water, soluble in ethanol when heated, very slightly soluble in ether. During melting, it partially undergoes isomerization to form ammonium thiocyanate. Used as raw materials for manufacturing drugs, dyes, resins, compression molding powders, etc., as well as vulcanization accelerators for rubber and flotation agents for metal minerals. It is formed by the reaction of hydrogen sulfide with lime slurry to form calcium hydrosulfide, and then by the reaction with calcium cyanamide. Ammonium thiocyanate can also be produced by melting or by reacting amino cyanide with hydrogen sulfide.

Production method of ethylene thiourea:

Absorb hydrogen sulfide with lime milk under negative pressure and cooling to generate a calcium sulfide solution. React calcium hydrosulfide and calcium cyanamide (lime nitrogen) in a 1:5 molar ratio at around 80 ℃ for 3 hours to obtain a thiourea solution. Filter, concentrate, cool, crystallize, and shake to dry to obtain the final product of thiourea. In addition, it can also be prepared using ammonium thiocyanate method and diazomethane method.

Purpose of ethylene thiourea:

Analytical reagents. Used for the determination of bismuth, osmium, rhodium, selenium, lead, tellurium, nitrite, etc. Determine the complexation indicator of osmium.
