Chemical Plant Explosion in Indonesia Claims 13 Lives

On December 24th, a chemical plant explosion in Indonesia's青山工业园 claimed the lives of 13 workers and left dozens injured. The blast occurred at a facility belonging to Indonesian stainless steel producer PT Aneka Tambang, also known as Incostar. Initial reports indicate that the explosion, which occurred during maintenance work, was triggered by a gas leak. The rescue efforts were hampered by the toxic fumes and debris, and officials have warned of possible further explosions.
