The properties of Urea in chemistry:

1.Hydrolysis: Urea is easily hydrolyzed into ammonia and carbon dioxide in water. This hydrolysis reaction can serve as a nitrogen source in the application of urea fertilizers.

1. Acid base reaction test: Dissolve the urea to be tested in water and add a drop of phenolphthalein indicator. Then dilute hydrochloric acid is added dropwise. If the color changes from pink to colorless, it indicates that urea has reacted with hydrochloric acid to produce carbon dioxide and ammonium salts.

2. Silver mirror reaction test: React urea solution with basic silver ammonia solution. If silver mirror phenomenon occurs after adding ammonia water, it can be determined as urea.

Urea can be used as supplementary feed for anti chick animals. In industry, urea is a raw material for the synthesis of urea formaldehyde, melamine formaldehyde resin, etc. Used in medicine to manufacture drugs such as tetracycline, phenobarbital, caffeine, etc. The dye industry uses it to produce reduced brown BR, phthalocyanine blue B, etc..

When using urea, the following points should be noted:

1. Avoid prolonged exposure to urea dust or vapor and ensure good ventilation conditions.

2. Avoid direct contact with urea solution or urea dust, and wear personal protective equipment such as protective gloves, goggles, and masks when using.
