agriculture urea Application:
As a neutral fertilizer, urea is suitable for various soils and plants. It is easy to store, convenient to use, and has little destructive effect on soil. It is currently one of the most widely used chemical nitrogen fertilizers. In industry, urea is synthesized using ammonia and carbon dioxide under certain conditions.
Discovery process:
In 1773, Hilaire Rouelle discovered urea. In 1828, German chemist Friedrich Weiler first synthesized urea using the inorganic substance ammonium cyanate (NH4CNO, an inorganic compound that can be obtained by reacting ammonium chloride and silver cyanate) with ammonium sulfate. He originally planned to synthesize ammonium cyanate, but ended up with urea. The synthesis of urea marked the beginning of the artificial synthesis of organic compounds.
