This mixture can be used as a skin ointment to help treat common skin infections such as boils or carbuncles by drying out the affected area of the skin and healing the boil or carbuncle at the source .

The steps to make magnesium sulphate ointment are as follows:

Using a tablespoon of laxative salt, add half a tablespoon of water and mix well until it becomes a paste.
If the mixture does not look pasty enough, stir it while heating until the laxative salt crystals dissolve.
Allow the mixture to cool and apply to the affected skin area .
When using magnesium sulphate paste, you should follow the product instructions or general guidance and apply the paste thickly to the area to be treated, then cover with a plaster or dressing that can usually be used overnight. Remove the dressing the next morning and clean the area, preferably with a conventional antiseptic. Repeat this process until the problem is resolved .
