MAGNESIUM SULPHATE

Magnesium sulphate heptahydrate, also known as sulphur bitter, bitter salt, laxative salt, laxative salt, chemical formula for MgSO4-7H2O), is white or colourless needle or oblique columnar crystals, odorless, cool and slightly bitter. Decomposed by heat, it gradually removes the water of crystallisation to anhydrous magnesium sulphate. Chemical Properties

Stability: stable in humid air below 48.1°C, easy to weather in warm dry air, above 48.1°C, it loses 1 crystalline water and becomes magnesium sulfate hexahydrate, at 67.5°C, it dissolves in its own crystalline water and precipitates magnesium sulfate monohydrate at the same time, at 70-80°C, it loses 4 crystalline water, at 100°C it loses 5 crystalline water, at 150°C it loses 6 crystalline water, at 200 ℃ when the loss of all crystalline water, become powdered anhydrous magnesium sulfate, dehydrated material placed in the humid air to be able to reabsorb water. In the saturated solution of magnesium sulfate, can be crystallised with 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 12 water hydrated crystals, in -3.9 ~ 1.8 ℃ saturated aqueous solution, precipitation of magnesium sulfate dodecahydrate, in -1.8 ~ 48.18 ℃ saturated aqueous solution, precipitation of magnesium sulfate heptahydrate, in the saturated aqueous solution at 48.1 ~ 67.5 ℃, the precipitation of magnesium sulfate hexahydrate, higher than 67.5 ℃, when precipitate magnesium sulfate monohydrate.
