Hydrogen peroxide (H ₂ O ₂) is a strong oxidant that decomposes into oxygen and hydroxyl radicals (· OH) with strong oxidizing properties when encountering algae. These free radicals can directly damage the cellular structure of algae, such as:
Cell membrane: oxidizes the lipid layer of algal cell membrane, leading to leakage of cell contents;
Chloroplasts: key structures that disrupt photosynthesis, rendering algae unable to survive;
Enzymes and DNA: attack the metabolic enzymes and genetic material of algae, blocking their reproduction.
Hydrogen peroxide violently breaks down the cells of algae, causing them to die quickly.

Purpose of hydrogen peroxide to kill algae in hydroponics:

Algae removal in household aquariums:
Turn off the fish tank filtration system to prevent rapid decomposition of hydrogen peroxide.
Use a needle or dropper to directly spray hydrogen peroxide onto areas with dense algae, such as the walls of tanks, green algae on sunken trees, and black algae.
