Sodium Gluconate is the sodium salt of gluconic acid, produced by fermentation of glucose. Sodium Gluconate is a white to tan, granular to fine, crystalline powder, very soluble in water.Sodium Gluconate is non corrosive, non toxic and resistant to oxidation and reduction, even at high temperatures. It is readily biodegradable (98% after 2 days).

C6H11NaO7 effectively inhibits scale formation by binding calcium and magnesium ions in hard water, thus preventing deposits in boilers, cooling towers, and heat exchangers. It works well with phosphonates and polymers in antiscalant formulations. Additionally, it forms protective films on metal surfaces, especially steel and copper, reducing corrosion rates in closed-loop cooling systems at pH ranges of 7.0-9.5. In cleaning applications,Sodium gluconate removes iron oxide deposits in membrane cleaning formulations and degrades calcium carbonate scales without damaging equipment. It's commonly used in RO/UF membrane cleaning at concentrations of 0.5-2%. In industrial water systems, typical dosage ranges from 5-50 ppm depending on water hardness. As a biodegradable alternative to phosphates and EDTA, it is compatible with most water treatment chemicals.
According to the different types of fermentation enzymes used, fermentation methods can be divided into two stages: one is to use enzymes from Aspergillus Niger, the other is to use acids, and the latter is to use glucose dehydrogenation to form lactones, which are then decomposed.
