Phosphoric acid in water, is a common inorganic acid, is a medium strong acid, chemical formula H3PO4, molecular weight 97.994.

Pure phosphoric acid is a colorless orthorhombic crystal at room temperature, containing 72.4% phosphorus pentoxide, with a density of 1.8741 (25 ℃), a melting point of 42.35 ℃, and a boiling point of 213 ℃ (losing 1/2H2O). It is easily hygroscopic in air. The product phosphoric acid is a colorless, transparent, viscous liquid with an acidic taste. 85% phosphoric acid has a specific gravity of 1.6850 (25 ℃) and is soluble in water and ethanol.
