It is white acicular crystal at room temperature, soluble in ethanol, water, chloroform, acetone, dimethylamide, slightly soluble in ether, carbon tetrachloride, and insoluble in benzene, toluene, butanol. It is unstable in the air and easily turns light red. M-Phenylenediamine is widely used in the manufacture of Disperse dye, Reactive dye, direct dyes and cement accelerators.
