Acetonitrile is an organic compound with the chemical formula CH3CN or C2H3N [3]. Application

（1）Acetonitrile has been used in recent years as an organic modifier and solvent for TLC, paper chromatography, spectral and polarographic analysis. Since high-purity acetonitrile does not absorb UV at 200nm to 400nm, one application under development is as a solvent for high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), enabling analytical sensitivity up to levels 10-9.

（2）Acetonitrile is a widely used solvent, mainly as an extractive distillation solvent to separate butadiene from C4 hydrocarbons. Acetonitrile is also used in the separation of other hydrocarbons, such as propylene, isoprene and methyl acetylene from hydrocarbon fractions. Acetonitrile is also used in some special separations, such as extraction of separated fatty acids from vegetable oil and cod liver oil, leaving the treated oil pale, pure and with improved smell, while the vitamin content remains the same. Acetonitrile is also widely used as solvent in pharmaceutical, pesticide, textile and plastic sectors.

（3）Acetonitrile is an organic solvent with strong polarity. It has good solubility to grease, inorganic salt, organic matter and polymer compounds. It can clean off grease, wax, fingerprint, corrosives and flux residues on silicon wafers. Therefore, high purity acetonitrile can be used as semiconductor cleaning agent.

Storage

Store in a cool, ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat. The temperature of the warehouse should not exceed 30℃. Keep the container airtight. Should be stored separately with oxidant, reducing agent, acid, base, easy (flammable), edible chemicals, do not mix storage. Explosion-proof lighting and ventilation facilities are adopted. Do not use mechanical equipment and tools that can easily generate sparks. The storage area should be equipped with leak emergency treatment equipment and suitable holding materials.
