Industrial manganese carbonate (MnCO₃) is a pale pink to reddish-brown crystalline solid with a molecular weight of 114.95 g/mol. It is stable under normal conditions but decomposes above 200°C to form manganese(II) oxide (MnO) and carbon dioxide (CO₂). This decomposition process is essential in producing manganese oxide for various industrial applications. MnCO₃ is insoluble in water but reacts readily with acids, such as hydrochloric acid, to yield carbon dioxide and soluble manganese(II) salts.
