MAGNESIUM SULPHATE

Usage and dosage
① Intravenous infusion of 25% solution, 20ml diluted with 5%-10% glucose to 1% concentration drip. Each intramuscular injection of 25% 20ml, the total amount of moderate hypertensive syndrome of pregnancy daily 20 to 25g, eclampsia daily up to 30g;

② inhibit contractions 10% solution 40 ml placed in 25% dextrose 20 ml intravenous slow push, followed by 25% solution 60 ml added to 5% dextrose 1000 ml intravenous drip, the rate of 2.0g per hour until the contractions stop;

Drug interactions:

The drugs that are contraindicated with magnesium sulfate are polymyxin B sulfate, streptomycin sulfate, calcium glucosinolate, dobutamine hydrochloride, procaine hydrochloride, tetracycline, penicillin, and nafcillin (ethylated naphthylpenicillin).

Adverse reactions:

If the concentration is too high during diarrhoea, it may cause dehydration; where there are ulcers and breaks in the gastrointestinal tract, it is easy to cause a large amount of magnesium ions to be absorbed and cause toxicity.

Precautions
1. If large quantities of over-concentrated solution are administered during the induction of diarrhoea, a large amount of water may be drawn from the tissues and lead to dehydration;

2. As intravenous injection is more dangerous, it should be used by experienced physicians, injected slowly, and pay attention to the patient's respiration and blood pressure. In case of poisoning (e.g. respiratory muscle paralysis), 10% calcium gluconate injection 10 ml can be injected to relieve the patient;

3. Intestinal bleeding patients, patients with acute abdomen and pregnant women, menstruating women prohibit the use of this product diarrhoea;

4. Central inhibitory drugs (such as phenobarbital) poisoning patients to remove the poison should not use this product diarrhoea, in order to prevent aggravation of central inhibition.
